Balancity, Pavilion of Germany
Time : 2009-07-09
The German Pavilion will occupy a plot measuring around 6,000 m - the largest area a national pavilion can be given – in Section C of the EXPO site.
The EXPO rules stipulate that 60 to 80 per cent of the plot can be built on and that the building's height must not exceed 20 metres. balancity will make full use of the maximum space available.
The German Pavilion will be located in the European section, next to the French, Polish, Swiss, Dutch and Russian pavilions, near the Lupu Bridge, in the second row along the Huangpu River.
The participation contract between the Federal Republic of Germany and World EXPO 2010 Shanghai China was signed in May 2008, following the Chinese EXPO organisers' approval of the theme proposed for "balancity". The plot for the pavilion is expected to be ready for construction at the end of 2008 and construction work in Shanghai is set to get underway at the beginning of 2009.
