Beijing Nightlife Travel-Peking Opera

Beijing, though being an ancient capital city dates back to thousands of years ago, is also a vigorouscity with colorful nighlife recreations. Instead of the passionate bars, night market, massage centre, I choose Peking Opera, which I heard is a blend of music, dance, art, acrobatics, and martial arts, as my Beijing nightlife entertainment.   

Peking Opera, with its stunning art accompanying music, singing and costumes, is China's national opera. Full of Chinese cultural facts, the opera presents the audience with an encyclopedia of Chinese culture, as well as unfolding stories, exquisite costumes, graceful gestures and martial arts.

In Peking Opera, characters can be roughly divided into four types of roles: Sheng, Dan, Jing and Chou, which are further classified by age and profession.  Every type of role wears its own facial makeup and costume, allowing audience members to figure out its identity of the character the moment it appears on the stage.

Boasts as the core of Chinese national drama, Peking Opera has tremendous influence in China. Therefore, today cannot be considered as the later years of Beijing opera, on the contrary, it will never be old, and still has much potential nurturing to fulfill in its life. Beijing Opera will keep to aim for further development as it strives vigorously to hold its worthy place, a status that no other forms of art can be allowed to be a substitute for. On November 16th, 2010, the Peking Opera was inscribed in theMasterpiece of Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO.
