Step Back in Time at Cuandixia Village,Beijing
Located in Zhaitang Town in Mentougou District, Cuandixia village is about 90 kilometers from downtown Beijing. The village, surrounded by mountains, stands on the northern gentle slope of the hills and, having being built in harmony with the terrain of the mountains, and it looks like a castle or a mountain city. As the best preserved ancient mountain village in China, the trip to this village is like a tour travel back to the past.

From the bird's eye, you could see that the village is built into a fan-shape layout along the south-north cnetral axis and divided by a widing and rugged east-west lane built of oddly-shaped stones.

The village is originally built during the Ming Dynasty with a history of about 400 years long the constructions are well preserved with more than 70 courtyards with approximately 500 rooms. However, there are only about 29 households with 93 people living in the village. Most of the people there now live on the rural tourism offering accommodation and dining for the visitors.
