Things to Do for Kids in Beijing

Traveling with children in Beijing can be a wonderful experience, as long as you find ways to show the kids with fun, exciting activities between more traditional sightseeings and kid-centre amusement parks.
1. Beijing Zoo
Beijing Zoo is located to the west of Beijing City ( 2km west of Xizhimen Subway Station Line 2 ). It has both rare Chinese animals, such as the Giant Panda and the Golden Monkey, and also a wide selection from around the world – from Polar Bears to Kangaroos. Over 6,000 animals of over 500 species are on show. The visits by the heads of states have brought some of the animals as gifts.
2. Forbidden City
Spend a few hours exploring the Forbidden City with a guide in your language so that your kids can have an interesting explanation of this former emperors home. There are lots of interesting animal and creature sculptures throughout.
3. Great Wall Camping
The Great Wall of China is a must do while in Beijing with kids. This wonder of the world is steeped in fascinating history. Mutianyu Great Wall is one of the best sections to visit with your children. Your teenagers will love the cable car ride up and the optional toboggan ride down and feel proud to tell their friends that they climbed the Great Wall.
4. Watch an Acrobatic or Kung Fu Show
One of China's most famous exports is the myriad forms of kung fu. So don’t miss the Acrobat Shows while in Beijing with kids. Meaning "attainment through effort", kung fu is a western umbrella term that covers many martial arts. This is one of the top things to see in Beijing with children.
5. Beijing Hutong tour by Rickshaw
The kids will have fun on a rickshaw ride through the Beijing hutongs. This is a great choice for Beijing family travel so the kids can catch a glimpse of the daily life in China. The hutongs are made up of traditional courtyard residences and have narrow alleys.
6.Summer Palace
The Summer Palace was the former summer retreat for the past emperors. There is a lake here that you can rent either electric or pedal boats on. The kids will enjoy a walk on the 17 arch bridge with the 544 lion sculptures in different poses.
7. Beijing Aquarium
Beijing Aquarium is one of the biggest aquariums in the world. You can walk through and see lots of exotic fish. There are several shows including a dolphin and a sea lion show. A great place to visit when you are in Beijing with kids.
8. The Temple of Heaven
The Temple of Heaven is another interesting place to visit on your Beijing family trip. This colorful temple is where the emperors would make sacrifices to the heavens. The kids will get a kick out of the echo wall. And if you stand at one side and whisper then the person on the opposite side can clearly hear it though the wall is 193 meters in circumference. There is lots going on here including Tai chi, fan dancing, kite flying and more. There are vendors selling all the fun games you can enjoy here.
