Town of Lotus- Fengjing

Fengjing, a quaint and simple watertown with a history of more than 1500 years, is one of the most well-preserved ancient towns in Shanghai. Fengjing is also known as the "Town of Lotus" for the town is surrounded with thick trees, gurgling water and elegant lotus here and there.
There's a saying goes, "pass two bridges within a few steps, and a chance glimpse catches ten rivulets", for its surrounding water network and numerous rivulets inside. The old-style houses were built along the green, serene waters. People dwelled in the homes with backyards led to the river. Steps came down, and people could bend close, without falling in of course, and wash clothing and clean. The Fengjing town is much more quiet and far less commercial than the others.
