Built in 1880s, the Tuisi Garden (also known as Retreat and Reflection Garden ) is comprised of the housing complex, a big courtyard and a garden which are aligned on a west-east axis. It's the most notable Tongli attraction. In 2001, the Retreat and Reflection Garden was recognized with other classical Suzhou gardens as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The name of the garden originates from an ancient Chinese saying that "loyal to the emperor with honest heart, self reflection is needed after retirement".
