To & From Hangzhou
Xiaoshan International Airport is situated in the east of New Street Town of Xiaoshan District, a place lying in the south bank of Qiantang River. It is about twenty-seven kilometers away from the city center and fifteen kilometers away from Xiaoshan district. On the condition that the traffic is not so crowd, it only takes 30 to 40 minutes to get to the new airport starting from the center of Hangzhou, through Qianjiang Third Bridge lanes. Xiaoshan International Airport opens 126 domestic and international routes and makes number of navigable city reach to 59.
Airport Bus (the airport bus waiting room located at the north side of the first floor of the air-terminal to the hall on the 5th floor) takes approximately 80 minutes to get to the airport from the Hangzhou Wulin Gate airline booking office. There are also high-speed regular buses leading to the Shanghai Hongqiao Airport here.

Tip: the passengers who take the regular bus to the airport should arrive at Wulin Gate (the Tickets Booking Office) two hours in advance of the boarding time since it runs about (80 minutes) one hour and twenty minutes.

Taxi (the taxi pick-up area is located at the outside of the first floor of terminal 1 to the 5th door)The omnidistance from Wulin Gate Ticket Booking Office (No. 390, Stadium Road, Wulin Gate) to Xiaoshan International Airport is 31km by taking a taxi. The cost is about 90 Yuan, or 100 Yuan if drive out of the airport (to Wulin Gate Ticket Booking Office).
Altogether two railway stations serve in Hangzhou: Hangzhou Train Station (Hangzhou Station) and East Railway Station. These two are very close to the city center, with the city public transport K518 cable.
It only takes about 20 minutes to get to the city center from Hangzhou Train Station with a taxi. You can appreciate major scenic spots of West Lake by taking the public transport 7 Road, K7 Road and Y2 Road. If you are in Hangzhou East Station, you can take Y5 Road to the downtown. It takes about 20 minutes to get into the Wulin Square Commercial Center by taking a taxi from here.

It is very convenient for visitors to go to Hangzhou from Shanghai by train. In Shanghai South Railway Station you can buy tickets at once as long as it's not during the Golden Week. Choose the tickets to Hangzhou Train Station, out of which is the West Lake Avenue, while Hangzhou East Railway Station is much far away. On weekend, visitors from Shanghai to Hangzhou should buy a round-trip ticket in advance because there are a lot of visitors during that time. Otherwise, you have to stand all the way.
Transportation in Hangzhou Train Station: there are a lot of public buses here. They can take you to almost everywhere in Hangzhou. If you want to take taxi, you will see the sign leading to the taxi queue at the tickets entrance. It is the only place that can ensure you get on a taxi and waiting time is not very long.
In Hangzhou, all directions, south, north, east and west, have their highways. Such seven highways as Shanghai-Hangzhou high-speed, Hangzhou-Ningbo Expressway, Hangzhou-Nanjing high-speed, Hang-jin-qu high-speed, 104 national Highway, 320 national Highway as well as 02 provincial Highway, have formed a high-grade highroad framework.
In Hangzhou, there are four long-distance bus stations, including East Long-distance Bus Station, South Long-distance Bus Station, West Long-distance Bus Station and North Long-distance Bus Station. One can arrive at China's 12 provinces and municipalities directly from here. What's more, you can also buy tickets in China Construction Bank in the center of city.
Tips: for tourists who have to transfer, you can buy their destination tickets at the train station (refers only to Hangzhou City Station) and according to the tickets they can take free shuttle bus to Hangzhou four long-distance stations. The tourists who are too late to buy tickets can also take the buses by pre-paying 10 Yuan, which can be deducted when you get off to buy offset tickets. As for the regular around-the-city buses between the long-distance stations, you should pay the fee.

Qiantang River Shipping:
The Qiantang River Tourism Company, according to the advantage of Qiantang River Lane "watching majestic Qiantang, seeing elegant Chunjiang", opens three tourist routes: one is the 24-hour Fuchunjiang Tour; the second is The Tour of Grand Canal's Night; the third is the one-day trip of Qiantang River, Fuchun River, Guan Shan.
Canal Water Bus:
The Water Bus has four stops including Genshan bus terminal, Wulin Gate, Xinyi Square and Gongchenqiao. Visitors can take water bus at Genshan Bus Terminal, approximately every half an hour a bus from 7 am to 18:00 pm. From 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., tickets for the two periods are 3 Yuan / per person, while the rest are 5 Yuan / per person.
Canal Water Tour:
You can start from Wulin Gate bus station, appreciating the unique atmosphere of the canal water transport, semi-Tao Chunhong, Fuyi Warehouse, Qianlong Fang, Stream Street, Seisa Park, Gongchenqiao and other attractions, then return to Wulin Gate.
Tickets price: 50 Yuan / per person
Time: starts at 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. which last about 1 hour.
The Tour of Grand Canal's Night:
Tourists can start from Wulin Gate bus station at night and enjoy West Lake Cultural Square, Ten Scenic spots of Genshan, Shilan Long-array, Fuyi Warehouse, Royal Pier, Stream Street, Gongchenqiao and other night spots, then return to Wulin Gate.
Tickets price: 80 Yuan on the cabin / per person, 60 Yuan off the cabin / per person.
Time: start at 7:30 every night, to the end of 9:00, a total of a group.
The Tour of Qiantang River's Night:
Tourists can start from Wulin Gate bus station at night, sensing the "A ship rises with the tide" when you get through Sanbao lock, experiencing heroic feeling when you are on Qiantang River, making a wish when you pass Pagoda of Six Harmonies, then you can return to Wulin Gate.
Tickets price: upper deck 120 Yuan / person, the lower deck 80 / person.

The minimum fare of taking a taxi in Hangzhou is 10 Yuan for the first 3 kilometers (another 1 Yuan is charged for fuel costs). After the first 3kms, 2 Yuan / per km is charged; and once it gets to 10kms, the unit price will be 3 Yuan. Tips：4 p.m. to 5 p.m. is the period for drivers to change off and a hard time for passengers to get a taxi, during which they are allowed to refuse to take passengers. However, drivers cannot refuse to take passengers without any good reasons in other period of time. Punishment will be given for violation.
It is suggested to get a taxi in surrounding areas near Hangzhou Railway Station Square, because drivers' refusing to take passengers is common in the square. They are more interested in long-distance business. Besides, passengers might as well take a bus during the hard time duiring the changing off.
Passengers should negotiate with drivers about the price if the destination is far away from the downtown. Remember that there is no such thing as a free lunch when the driver bids a very low price.

Tips: Passengers should prepare enough changes when taking a bus, because almost all buses in Hangzhou are conductor-less buses (including air-conditioned buses).
Buses with letter "Y" are all for tourists. Passengers if in a hurry could take Line 9 (5 Yuan) which goes along the lake, so that they can get the overall sight of West lake, surrounding mountains and the city. Moreover, double-deck tour buses would be a better choice for passengers who hope to view the surrounding sceneries, which is cheap and convenient.
The Subway line one in Hangzhou will serve publicly before the end of year 2011. On that occasion, the transportation conditions in Hangzhou will be better.
