Loscertales praises Expo exhibition at Capital Museum
Time : 2009-07-09
Vicente Loscertales, secretary general of the International Expositions Bureau said today that he found the ongoing Expo-themed exhibition at the Capital Museum in Beijing "very beautiful". He believed Chinese citizens will be "more willing" to visit the 2010 World Expo after touring the exhibition.
He made the comments after visiting the exhibition on its opening day, which will wrap up on July 25. The exhibition in Beijing is part of organizer's national promotional tour.
When asked about his impression on the Expo Website, he said it is "very good" and "improving every day" as well as "giving more news every time." He expected it to be more dynamic with more news coming in the future.
He was very confident that the 2010 Expo will be a success despite the financial crisis. All the participants are preparing for their pavilions and none of them has withdrawn, he said.
"In the financial crisis, you have to look for new opportunities," he noted. "If you stay at home in the midst of the financial crisis, it will last forever. Therefore, you have to go out and be more active."
He was impressed by the efficient work of the organizer and expressed satisfaction. The organizers are "doing their utmost" to serve the participants, which is very important as Expo is a "joint venture" involving both the organizer and participants, he said.
From his point of view, Shanghai is one of the "most dynamic" cities in the world with innovation. Therefore, people expect more for the 2010 Expo in Shanghai than those previously held in other cities, he said.
Loscertales believed the United State would eventually come to the Shanghai Expo, as "almost all the countries are participating in the Expo."
In terms of the most difficult parts of hosting an Expo, Loscertales mentioned several aspects. The organizers have to learn everything at the very beginning and Expos require efficient and careful management, whose success is the responsibility of all, he noted.
Meanwhile, all the contents in the pavilions should be well-developed based on the themes in an educational and interactive way to let everybody enjoy the Expo, according to him.
The Expo site itself should be "an exhibit," and everyone will find fun in it, he said.
