Xian Muslim Street

Xi'an Muslim Street is located at the mouth of Qiaozhi on West Street and only 100 metres away from Xi'an city center. The street was firstly established in the Han Dynasty 1000 years ago and served in ancient times as the starting point of the well-known Silk Road. The place is the hub of the Chinese-Muslim community in Xi'an with residents living and maintaining their original religious tradition and customs. It is also home of many other local ethnic groups.
The Muslim population of Xian is originally descended from Arab traders that migrated here along the Silk Road. The land-borne silk trade may have faded away centuries ago, but a central Asian flavour still permeates Xian, and it emanates from this famous corner of the Muslim quarter.
Paved with bluestones and lined with green trees, the Muslim Food Street is about 500 meters long. There are many shops and restaurants along the narrow alleys run by Chinese Muslims providing tourists a fantastic and authentic experience of exploration for various mouthwatering cuisines, snacks and interesting souvenirs featured with rich Islamic flavor.
Xi'an Muslim Street is a landmark in Xi'an where tourists can enjoy most of the local delicacies. Yummy barbecued lamb skewers, mutton-stuffed pancakes and thick noodles with mincemeat can be picked up at any of the small snack stalls on the street.
The Grand Mosque of Huajue alley, an earliest formed mosque remaining in China, and Xi'an City God Temple, one of the third largest city god temples in China, are also situated in the Xi'an Muslim Street area. The Xi'an Muslim Street is the best destination for tourists interested in Muslim culture and Arabian flavor of delicacies.
